Aunque en 2010, el año más competido de todos, puede que hubiera dos ganadores, toda vez que no se sabe bien quién venció, carrera resuelta a ojímetro porque no había foto finish. Jesús Herrada (36 años; Mota del Cuervo, Cuenca) y Pello Bilbao (36 años; Gernika-Lumo, Vizcaya), alimentados por el jolgorio de la afición, que nunca falla en la montaña, lograron escaparse de todos y jugarse la etapa al sprint. Golpes de riñón, mandíbulas apretadas, estertores de supervivencia y… miradas de incertidumbre porque llegaron al unísono. O quizá no. Pero el laurel se lo puso Herrada.
Jesse Minter expresses confidence in Tyler Loop
Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed field goals of 58 and 51 yards in the preseason finale. He finished the preseason 5-of-8 as he tries to rebound from the 44-yard miss that ended the Ravens' season in Week 17.
Baltimore kept Loop on the roster, but signed Jake Moody to the practice squad on Monday.
"I have a lot of confidence in Tyler still," Jesse Minter said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "He's had a great training camp. I expect him to be our kicker going into [the Sept. 13 season opener in] Indianapolis.
"But you're always trying to just have every scenario covered, and so that's what we're trying to do as a team."
Loop, whom the Ravens drafted in 2025 to replace Justin Tucker, went 30-of-34 but was only 1-of-4 from 50 yards or longer. That was the second-worst rate in the NFL.
He remains with the Ravens — for now — but will have to hold off Moody for the job.
Falcons sign LB Josh Woods to active roster, place LB JD Bertrand on IR
The Falcons signed veteran linebacker Josh Woods from their practice squad to their 53-player roster on Monday night, the team announced.
In a corresponding move, the Falcons placed third-year linebacker JD Bertrand on the reserve/injured list. Bertrand's injury is undisclosed.
He is required to miss at least four games before returning.
Woods has spent the past two seasons in Atlanta and has become a core special teams player. He played 82 percent of special teams snaps in the 12 games he was active last season.
Woods registered 14 total tackles.
He entered the league in 2019 as an undrafted free agent with the Bears. He has played for four different teams in his seven NFL seasons, compiling 137 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
The Falcons have two spots on their practice squad.
