Eagles-Bears racks up 22.6 million viewers
Monday Night Football, which has morphed before our collective eyes from a cable property to an ABC production, is generating the ratings that typically flow from being on broadcast TV. h-doctor.club
The Week 3 game between the Eagles and Bears racked up 22.6 million viewers on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN Deportes. (There was no ManningCast in Week 3.)
It's the second-largest Week 3 Monday night audience since ESPN acquired the package. The biggest audience happened for last year's Week 3 game between the Lions and Ravens, at 22.8 million.
To date, the Monday Night Football audience is up by 20 percent, thanks to the three-letter footprint and a little creative accounting.
Zach Charbonnet designated to return to practice
One of Seattle's key offensive players is getting back on the practice field.
Running back Zach Charbonnet has been designated to return to practice, the Seahawks announced on Thursday.
Charbonnet opened the season on the physically unable to perform list after he suffered a torn ACL during the divisional round victory over the 49ers in January.
Because he was on the PUP list, Charbonnet is not eligible to return to play until Week 5. But his 21-day practice window is now open, which means he can participate in football activities during that time before the team must activate him to the 53-man roster.
In 16 games last season, Charbonnet rushed for 730 yards with 12 touchdowns and caught 20 passes for 144 yards.
After hosting the Chargers in Week 4, the Seahawks will host the 49ers for the first of two divisional matchups between the clubs in Week 5.
Greg Rousseau named AFC defensive player of the month
Greg Rousseau has put together an impressive start to the 2026 season and the league has taken notice.
Rousseau has been named AFC defensive player of the month for September.
Through three weeks, Rousseau leads the league with 6.0 sacks, eight tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles.
According to the league, he is the third player since 1982 — when the sack became an official stat — with at least 2.0 sacks in each of a team’s first three games. Mark Gastineau accomplished the feat in 1984 and Kevin Greene did it in 1998.
This is Rousseau’s first career defensive player of the month award.
He also is just 2.0 sacks away from his career-high of 8.0, which he registered in 2022 and 2024.
The Bills will host the Patriots on Sunday.
Brock Purdy is the NFC offensive player of the month
The 49ers have dealt with a slew of injuries over the first month of the season, but quarterback Brock Purdy has stayed healthy and he's a big reason why the team is 3-0.
Purdy has gone 60-of-83 for 789 yards, nine touchdowns and an interception so far this season. His nine touchdown passes lead the league and he leads the league in a number of other metrics, including quarterback rating. On top of that, Purdy has not been sacked yet this year.
That production and the 49ers' record made Purdy the NFL's choice for the NFC offensive player of the month for September.
Purdy was also the NFC offensive player of the week in Week 2, but this is the first time that he's taken the monthly prize.
