La Fédération internationale de football (FIFA) a entamé, lundi 11 mai 2026, à Zurich, le processus officiel de réception des listes préliminaires des sélections engagées pour la Coupe du monde 2026, prévue du 11 juin aux États-Unis, au Canada et au Mexique. Pour cette édition historique marquée par la participation de 48 équipes, les fédérations nationales doivent transmettre une liste provisoire comprenant entre 35 et 55 joueurs, dont obligatoirement quatre gardiens de but. La FIFA a également fixé au 2 juin la date limite du dépôt des listes définitives. Celles-ci devront
comporter entre 23 et 26 joueurs, avec un minimum de trois gardiens. Une fois validées, elles ne pourront être modifiées qu’en cas de blessure grave ou de maladie, et ce jusqu’à 24 heures avant le premier match de chaque sélection. Durant la compétition, seuls les gardiens pourront être remplacés à tout moment en cas d’urgence médicale, une mesure visant à garantir la continuité sportive tout en assurant une gestion flexible des effectifs. À travers ce dispositif, la FIFA entend encadrer strictement la préparation des équipes tout en préservant l’équité et l’intégrité de la compétition mondiale.

Mathare United part ways with coach John Kamau
Kenyan Premier League outfit Mathare United have asked their coach John Kamau to step aside with immediate effect.
The decision to fire the coach came after their winless run from the last three FKF Premier League matches. Since defeating Bidco United 3-0, the ‘Slum Boys’ have gone ahead to stay winless in subsequent matches.
Mathare suffered a 2-1 defeat against Nairobi United, secured a 2-2 draw against already relegated Sofapaka, and lost 2-0 against APS Bomet.

“The club has reached a decision that coach John Kamau steps aside from his role as Head Coach with immediate effect,” read part of the statement from the club.”
In a brief update, Mathare further revealed assistant coach Mohammed Mchulla will take charge of the team until the end of the season.
“Assistant Coach Mohammed Mchulla will take over as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.”
Kamau leaves Mathare United sitting 14th on the 18-team Premier League table with 35 points from 31 matches. They have managed nine wins, eight draws, and 14 defeats.
Mathare have three matches remaining to conclude the season. They will face Mara Sugar, Ulinzi Stars, and Bandari FC.
