49ers Sign Herbert, Leo, Release Apple

The San Francisco 49ers have signed running back Khalil Herbert and defensive lineman Titus Leo to their 90-man roster while releasing cornerback Eli Apple and waiving defensive lineman Mikail Kamara with an injury designation.

Herbert, a 2021 sixth-round pick, ran 16 times for 52 yards in seven games for the Jets last season. He spent his first three seasons with the Bears and split the 2024 season between Chicago and Cincinnati. raccoongame.org

Leo had four tackles in four games for the Patriots in 2024 after spending time on the Eagles' practice squad. The 49ers also hosted three linebackers for workouts.
