Butler hires former guard Ronald Nored as men's basketball coach

Butler has hired former point guard Ronald Nored to lead its men's basketball program, replacing retired coach Thad Matta.

Nored, 36, returns to his alma mater after a stint as an assistant for the Atlanta Hawks, having previously worked with Brad Stevens in the NBA G League and for the Pacers and Hornets.

The former four-year starter averaged 5.8 points and 3.5 assists during his playing career and takes over for Matta, who retired following a 16-16 season.
