Canadiens Clinch Playoffs but Lose to Devils

The Montreal Canadiens clinched a playoff berth but saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The Canadiens became the first Canadian NHL team to secure a playoff spot this season after the Red Wings' loss earlier in the day. However, their dominant run was halted as Jacob Markstrom recorded his first shutout of the season with 18 saves.

Cody Glass and Timo Meier scored for New Jersey, with Connor Brown adding an empty-net goal. Jack Hughes had two assists for the Devils, who are fighting to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The loss came just hours after Montreal completed an undefeated five-game road trip with a shootout win over the Devils the previous day.
