Cubs lock in Nico Hoerner to 6‑year deal

Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner has agreed to a six‑year contract, solidifying the core of the team.

The 28‑year‑old, drafted in the first round of the 2018 amateur draft, will stay with the Cubs through 2030 after agreeing to a six‑year deal pending a physical.

Hoerner was a key contributor last season, batting .297 with seven homers, 61 RBIs and 29 steals in 156 games, and earned a Gold Glove.
