Gary Woodland opens up about PTSD battle after brain surgery

PGA Tour star Gary Woodland has revealed he is battling post-traumatic stress disorder following brain surgery to remove a lesion in 2023.

Woodland, a 2019 U.S. Open champion, underwent surgery in September 2023 after experiencing symptoms including panic attacks and tremors. Doctors discovered a benign tumor pressing on the part of his brain responsible for fear. Although he returned to the PGA Tour in 2026, Woodland admitted to feeling like he is 'living a lie' as he continues to manage the mental health impacts of the procedure.
