Italy Players Skip Interviews After World Cup Defeat

Two Italy players skipped mandatory post-match interviews after the national team's World Cup play-off defeat to Bosnia, with only Leonardo Spinazzola facing the media.

Leonardo Spinazzola was the only Italy player to face the media after Tuesday's World Cup play-off Final defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina, while two teammates refused to do their mandatory duties. The players' snub comes after Italy's failed attempt to qualify for the World Cup, which led to coach Gennaro Gattuso's resignation.

According to La Repubblica, a group of players had tried to negotiate a bonus for World Cup qualification before the final match. The report also notes that only Spinazzola "had the courage to face the cameras" after the penalty defeat in Bosnia. Technically, three players must speak with RAI, the official Azzurri broadcaster, after games. Captain Gigio Donnarumma was the only player who shared a social media message for fans after the defeat.
