MAC Appeals Michigan-WMU Game Outcome

The Mid-American Conference has appealed the outcome of the Michigan-Western Michigan game, asking NCAA officials to recognize the Broncos as the actual winner.

After further investigation, MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher determined that replay protocol was not properly followed in determining whether time remained on the game clock. The Big Ten replay crew relied on a separate clock embedded in their replay system rather than the game clock shown on television, resulting in one second being added to the clock and allowing Michigan's game-winning Hail Mary.

Steinbrecher stated that had the established protocol been followed and the program-feed clock been used, no additional play would have been awarded, and Western Michigan would have won the game 12-7. The MAC is requesting the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision Oversight Committee and the CFP recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner. catcrossgame.com
