MacKinnon Becomes First NHL Player of Season to 50 Goals

Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche became the first NHL player this season to reach 50 goals, scoring the milestone against the Vancouver Canucks.

MacKinnon’s 50th goal came early in the first period when a liner from up top beat Vancouver goaltender Kevin Lankinen. He celebrated with a knee slide and a glove pump.

The 30‑year‑old now has his second 50‑goal season, joining Joe Sakic and Michel Goulet in franchise history. He also ties Nikita Kucherov for second in points with 121, four behind league leader Connor McDavid.
