Marathon walk honors former Cambridge player

Forty-five people completed a marathon walk from Mildenhall Town FC to Cambridge United's stadium in memory of former player Tom Youngs, who died in May 2025 after battling bowel cancer.

The walk, organized by the Tom Youngs Foundation set up by his wife Michelle and friend Chris Reeve, raised nearly £25,000 for charities including Bowel Cancer UK and the St Nicholas Hospice. Some funds will also support young athletes and musicians, reflecting Youngs' passion for nurturing talent.

Youngs, who made 246 league appearances during his career, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2014. Cambridge United donated 30 tickets for supporters to watch their match against Swindon Town, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Thursday evening.
