The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped an 11-7 decision to the New York Mets on Opening Day, marred by defensive errors and pitching struggles.

Despite Brandon Lowe’s two home runs, rookie Paul Skenes struggled mightily, allowing multiple runs in the first inning. Oneil Cruz’s two errors in center field further exacerbated the Pirates' defensive issues.

The mishaps proved costly as the Pirates fell to the Mets in a season-opening defeat.
