Rockies sign catcher Andrew Knizner to minor league deal

The Colorado Rockies have added catching depth by signing veteran Andrew Knizner to a minor league contract. Knizner brings a career .596 OPS and experience with the Cardinals, Rangers, and Giants.

Knizner, 31, was released by the Seattle Mariners this spring but tested the market due to his five years of service time. The Rockies open the season with Brett Sullivan as the backup catcher, but Knizner's strong defense and veteran presence make him a likely candidate to return to the majors quickly.

He previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2019 to 2023 and the San Francisco Giants in 2025.
