Soccer: One killed, dozens hurt at Peru derby

At least one person was killed and dozens injured at the Alejandro Villanueva Stadium ahead of the Alianza Lima vs. Universitario derby.

The tragedy took place during a flag-waving event at the stadium, popularly known as Matute. Alianza Lima ruled out any structural failures and stated they are fully cooperating with authorities to clarify the cause.

The Peruvian Professional Soccer League confirmed the derby match will proceed as scheduled.
