Suarez Uses ABS to Overturn Bucknor's Calls

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suárez utilized the new ABS challenge system to overturn two consecutive strike calls by umpire C.B. Bucknor during Saturday's game against Boston.

The Reds third baseman challenged two pitches that Bucknor had called strikes with vigor, only to have ABS confirm they were balls. The Great American Ballpark crowd enthusiastically cheered the overruled calls, though Suárez ultimately grounded out to shortstop on the next pitch. Cincinnati went on to win 5-3.

Bucknor had six of his calls overturned out of eight challenges on the day. The ABS system didn't help on a questionable check swing call for Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story, which led to Red Sox manager Alex Cora's ejection after he argued the call.
