Swedish Cross-Country Coach Steps Down

Anders Byström has resigned as head coach of the Swedish cross-country skiing team after six years, citing family reasons and growing discontent following the recent Olympics.

Anders Byström has stepped down as head coach of the Swedish cross-country skiing team after six years in the role. The coach cited difficulties being away from his family as a key reason for his departure, adding that he wants to allow someone else to build the team toward the 2030 Olympics.

Byström's tenure came under scrutiny after Sweden's disappointing Olympic performance. On the women's side, controversy arose when only two Swedish athletes started in the final 50km event after several, including Linn Svahn, were sent home. Despite this, federation chief Lars Öberg acknowledged the team's progress under Byström's leadership and thanked him for his contributions.
